Anti-Aging and Skincare
Can we really protect our youth?
Can we control the speed at which we age?
Well, extensive research is being conducted worldwide on this topic. Technology, or anti-aging technology as it's called, is one of the fastest-growing research fields in the world. Scientists from various research institutes and universities are trying to find out through this research whether we can control the speed at which we age.
Through this research, they have discovered what causes rapid aging and what chemical compounds and vitamins help control the aging process. The world has been presented with extensive data on these topics. In this post, I hope to tell you about the chemical compounds and vitamins that help us control the aging process.
What Causes Rapid Aging?
First, let's look at what causes us to develo p an aged appearance quickly. The first factor is the increase in Advanced Glycation End Products (AGEs) in the body. What we call AGEs - meaning certain things contained in our food cause us to get an aged appearance quickly.
This happens like this: deep-fried foods and processed meats - that is, ham, sausages - these types of meat contain proteins, lipids, and sugars. The proteins and lipids in these foods react with the sugar molecules to form Advanced Glycation End Products (AGEs). These circulating active electrons and cellular waste products increase in the blood, building up oxidative stress - that is, oxidative pressure develops. Through this, our cells get damaged.
Skin Structure and Aging
The most important thing is that the skin mainly consists of four layers.
On top is the epidermis. Below that is the dermis. Below that is the subcutaneous tissue - that is, the fat layer. Below that is our muscle tissue.
The dermis, which is below the epidermis, contains collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid - the main factors that maintain skin health. They explain that oxidative stress is a cause for the breakdown of collagen and elastin fibers.
Similarly, the two other main things that increase oxidative stress are smoking and mental stress. Also, as we age, the activity of the collagenase enzyme in our body increases. This collagenase enzyme causes collagen fibers to break down. This causes our skin to wrinkle quickly.
The main thing that determines a person's appearance is the nature of their skin. If the skin wrinkles quickly, it causes them to look older than their age.
Protecting Our Youth
To protect our youth, the main thing we need to do is maintain the health of our skin. Now let's look at what helps maintain skin health.
1. Resveratrol
The first thing is that research has found that the compound called resveratrol mainly helps us maintain skin health. This resveratrol is contained in grapes and wine varieties made from grapes. Resveratrol contains large amounts of antioxidants - large amounts of anti-oxidants to control the pressure caused by oxidative stress.
Research has also found that resveratrol helps in collagen production in the skin. There's also a special protein called Sirtuin that helps maintain skin health. Research has found that resveratrol helps activate these sirtuin proteins.
2. EGCG (Epigallocatechin Gallate)
The second most important compound is EGCG (Epigallocatechin gallate), which is contained in green tea. Green tea also contains large amounts of other bioactive polyphenols and catechins.
Research has found that these compounds in green tea help in the production of collagen fibers in the skin as well as elastin fiber production. They've also found that EGCG in green tea has the ability to inhibit collagenase enzyme activity.
3. Liver Health
The third most important thing is that we must keep our liver healthy to protect our youth. Because it's through our liver that the body mainly metabolizes cholesterol and fat. Good fat metabolism must occur in the body to maintain skin health. Also, bile must be produced properly. If bile is metabolized properly, it contributes to skin health.
Therefore, research has found that turmeric, which helps maintain liver health, is a very good chemical substance that can control aging. The compounds contained in it help significantly.
4. Coriander (Raskainda)
The next thing is coriander. Coriander is a main medicine included in our Ayurveda. Research has found that coriander helps cool the body - that is, it has a cooling effect. Coriander also provides large amounts of antioxidants to our body. Therefore, coriander helps us with anti-aging effects.
5. Nigella Seeds (Black Cumin)
The next thing is Nigella seeds, which we call black cumin. Research has presented us with extensive data about black cumin. Black cumin helps by providing antioxidant capacity, controlling blood glucose levels, maintaining liver health, and providing antibacterial and anti-cancer properties through black cumin, as presented to us through worldwide research.
6. Moringa
The next most important compound is moringa. Moringa is not only important for maintaining skin health but is mainly a food that helps keep the body healthy. Through moringa leaves, we get large amounts of antioxidants. Additionally, moringa is a food through which we get vitamins A, C, and E very well.
Moringa is also a main food that helps in collagen production in the skin. Moringa is a food that helps maintain skin moisture - that is, it helps hyaluronic acid remain well in the dermis. It's also been found to be a food that helps protect the skin from UV radiation and detoxify the skin.
A 2022 study by the Chinese Academy of Sciences research institute in Wuhan found that providing moringa leaf extract can inhibit the activity of both collagenase enzyme and elastase enzyme, which causes elastin breakdown. Therefore, moringa is mainly a food that helps preserve our youth.
Essential Vitamins
Vitamin A helps us in collagen production in the skin. Vitamin A also helps us remove dead skin and maintain clear skin. The retinol present in Vitamin A is what mainly helps us in this regard.
Vitamin E helps us mainly by providing antioxidant action through Vitamin E. Additionally, it helps maintain skin health.
Two other vitamins that help maintain skin health are Vitamin B7 (also called biotin) and Vitamin C. Vitamin C helps us maintain good immunity in the body. We need this to protect our youth.
Biotin helps us maintain skin health - that is, it helps maintain skin moisture well, maintain skin elasticity well, and is an important vitamin for collagen production.
THANK YOU.
